Tony Jaa fans will be happy to hear that the filming of Tom Yum Goong 2 (3D) was completed recently and the film is getting set for release worldwide. Rumor has it the release will take place during the winter months of 2012 to 2013.
Also according to TwitchFilm.com, Tony may also play a role in the upcoming sequel to the hit Chinese action movie, Sha Po Lang (SPL) with Donnie Yen and Sammo Hung.
Tony is widely known onscreen for his incredible acrobatics, peaceful demeanor (unless onscreen villains put innocent lives in danger or push his character beyond reasonable limits) in which case he is also known for bone crunching knees, elbows, flying… and… I can’t even begin to describe what this guy can do on screen.
If you haven’t seen a Tony Jaa film, watch The Protector (Tom Yung Goong 1) and the original Ong Bak (his intro to the Western world) to get an idea of what we’re dealing with here. In those films he is a self sacrificing humble, dynamic hero on screen who holds to standards.
Warning: The sequels to Ong Bak are a bit over the top and could even be considered strange so I can’t recommend those as much. Even so, I still believe Tony Jaa is an actor and martial artist to watch.
